A "soundie" with Spade and Tex and Carolina Cotton on "Take Me Back To Tulsa"; good picture quality.

JM gets a 14 second ride.

This is his earliest appearance as far as I know, before the Bigsby guitar.

Was there another soundie made? This looks like the same set, although set up differently. Similar personnel but different uniforms. Add piano. The little single neck guitar. Or just a photo shoot?

Guy;

If you fish around on Youtube, you can find a Carolina Cotton soundie for "I Love To Yodel", that looks like the set in your pic. It's from 1944. JM is seen only with his back to the camera.

Also on Youtube is a Bob Crosby film from Sept 1944 "The Singing Sheriff". In it, the Cooley band does "Ida Red" on a bandstand. JM grins and takes a ride while Carolina Cotton is standing directly in front of him.

The soundies are dated 6-44 at the opening. Looks like there are at least 4 in the series as "I Love To Yodel" is dated 644-1-4.

Possible that the Crosby film is slightly before or slightly later. IMDB says only September 1944.
