50 years... wow. I bought the album the week it was released and I remember hearing it for the first time. I wasn't sure what to think. It was so different from anything I had heard before. It's not my favorite Beatles album, but it certainly was groundbreaking and paved the way for more experimental sounds and techniques in rock and roll.

One of my vivid memories from the summer of 1967 is cruising around town in my 1960 Chevy and hearing "With a Little Help From My Friends" blasting through the radio. I think of that summer every time I hear the song. Smile

I also remember when it came out. I'd wish to find that satirical article about the Beatles emulating Their Satanical Majesty's Request by the Rolling Stones, which of course was released six months later.

"It was fifty years ago today...." First hearing the segue from the title cut into "A Little Help...: was really something. Ringo!
Where did that come from? Yeah, must've been 'Satanic Majesties... Laughing

That classic segue was performed live by Paul and Ringo at the 2014 Grammy Awards. A very cool moment! About 2 min. 30 sec. into the video.

I've read that they pushed Ringo to sing in the key of E on this, as high as he could go. Great link!

And it's not quite as amusing now as it was then hearing Paul sing "When I'm Sixty-Four" - I'm closing on it fast!

I hear ya, Jeff. I passed that mark a while ago. Sad

Believe it or not, Ringo was 74 years old when that live show was recorded (2014)! He still sounds good.

Several years ago In Las Vegas I went to the Beatles "Love" show. A musical theater show with remastered Beatles recordings in Dolby 6.2. Talk about a WOW factor👍
