Time for a big band standard. My good friend Chuck Lettes posts tasty compositions and arrangements from time to time featuring the steel guitar and horns.

"A String of Pearls" is a 1941 song recorded by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra composed by Jerry Grey. Steel guitar began to be featured with big bands in the late 20s, and was the reason that it got electrified, first by Rickenbacher in Orange County, not too far from where I live now.

Because the original aluminum Frying Pans were susceptible to tuning problems due to the expansion of the metal under hot performing lights, many of the new models were manufactured from cast bakelight, an early synthetic plastic from which bowling balls are made
