Yesterday, while driving home from Phoenix Az to Oklahoma, I stopped at a Flying J in Gallup, New Mexico and there was Johnny Cox ! I had a nice visit with him as he told me about playing with ET and Mel Tillis. he had just had a 10 hour layover and was back on the road shortly. While I enjoyed talking with him, I was wishing I was at a show somewhere having the same conversation and he was setting up to play his steel...he said you cant make a living playing only steel in Nashville anymore, but he could make it driving trucks. I asked him if it was ok for me to post on the forum that I had seen him, and he said absolutely. A world class steel player !

still, Sad

Actually it's mostly telecaster. There is still some work there for guys that just play steel. For me it's just too modern and way too loud.
