For a roundfront D-10 ShoBud like a Professional or Pro II, what is the player height point when a person would make the change from a standard height steel to a lower steel.

Take for example, a person 5'6". Would that person prefer lowering the steel by 1"?

Any short ShoBud players out there that have lowered their steels?

I am 5'7" & have a round front ShoBud at standard height. It's fine for me. I have 2 seats that are 1" different - that doesn't seem to matter either.
I have read that your arms should be horizontal, not angled. But the biggest deal seems to be how straight I sit (instead of slouching)

I play a standard height round front 'bud. Ive also played guitars 1" under. For myself, I can feel equally comfortable on either. At 5'3 the biggest help I've found is playing whatever instrument I have ALOT and not bouncing around from one height to another.

I'm 5'7" and have a round front Shobud D10 that is 27" from the floor to the bottom of the back apron. Not sure if that is standard or not?
Anyway it was a little high for me.I was in need of a new seat so I ordered one from Joe Naylor one inch over standard and that put me at a comfortable position.
Not the most economical solution but it worked for me....

I agree with Rich's solution. Free your ass and your mind will follow. Either way I too was once very concerned with this type of thing until a soon to be friend told me to "just sit and play the thing". I could very well be the worst player on this forum, but "play the thing" has over and over proven to be a valuable mantra in all this.

A lot depends on the length of your legs and how you want your arms to sit on top of the guitar.

I'm 5'5" and have my guitar legs/rods cut 1.5" from standard to 24.5" from endplate to floor. Seat at 22". That's the combo that works for me. YMMV.

seat height, the almost forgotten variable. I have a old Marlen Pac a Seat that has the bend in my knees perfect. Makes a big difference.
