I'm thinking of having a compensator installed on my 6th string, on the A pedal, raising it up to be more in tune with the 5th string when the pedal is depressed.
Has anybody done this? How did it work out? _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Yes Mike, I've been using a 6th string compensator for 20 yrs. or better.
I use it to take the drop out of the 6th when using the A pedal and/or the A/F up 3 inversion. Works great. Install it just like any other multiple raise/lower compensator change, except it works off the A pedal instead. |

Mine is on the F raise lever for A+F
A pedal does the F#s.

Beats me why you would put it on the F lever 4th string raise when you can true the 6th string detune of both the A/F change and the A only change by activating it with the A pedal. |

Thanks guys. I agree with Jerry that putting the compensator on the A pedal makes more sense, for the reason he mentioned.
My A pedal already has 4 pulls; 3 changes plus a compensator to lower the 1st string. I hope it's not going to be too stiff after I have the new compensator installed. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Shouldn't make much difference Mike. I have my 7th string comp on the same pedal. You're only pulling it a few cents. It can go in the longest, easiest pull since the change is so little. I don't notice it on my guitars. |

Well yeah, that's a lot. Are you using a plain or wound string on 6? Just curious. |
