I am going to have some shoulder surgery and I will probably be restricted regarding lifting heavy weight. I'm wondering how much different the weight is in other steel guitars.

My GFI SD-10 and Williams SD-10 weigh pretty much the same. (I can't say exactly because I don't have a scale, but it's very close.) Both outstandingly light.

See if you can find a used SGI - probably the lightest weight pedal guitar ever built (by Fuzzy in Japan)...

Paul, are your On-Track guitars for sale? Could you show us several photos, please. I can vouch for the meticulous work you did on my Kline U 12 and ZB D 10. Thx Stevet

Ron, you might try looking at a Desert Rose made by Chuck Back. My back was going downhill in a jet and I had to rid myself of the heavy and go to the light. My Desert Rose weighs about 27 lb. alone. I left my Peavey 400 for a GK-MB-200 in a light weight cabinet...24 lbs.
I met you at the jam sessions in San Antonio. E-mail me and you can see what I have. I do not want to sell my rig but you can try it out here at the house or at the jam session in April.....Joe Rouse

You really have to consider the weight of the case. My Williams and Excel S-12's both weigh about the same at 25 pounds. However the Excel case is 20 pounds lighter than the Williams case:

Excel guitar weight is 25.8 pounds (my 12 string Williams keyless weighs 26.9 pounds)

Case weight is 12.1 pounds! (the Williams case weighed 31.1 pounds)

The Excel guitar and the case combined total weight is a minimal 37.9 pounds

By far the 2 lightest pro model guitars I have ever seen were a GFI Keyless, and an ETS keyed.. the ETS had a huge sound, played as well as any other steel I have ever owned, and came in a tiny little case that you could practically put in your pocket,, weighed less than my Sho Bud Maverick, yet had 4 and 5... bob

The late Al Marcus wrote that his Millennium weighed 19 pounds.

I saw an SGI once. my guess is that it was under 10 pounds.

I just got the little Emmons GS-10 pictured above all set up, new strings and cleaned up. I don't believe there is a S-10 or D-10 or any other light guitar that will come close to how good this thing sounds. I don't understand, it's just a box with a changer and strings and flat end plates, where is it getting a tone like it has? This just totally blows a lot of theories out of the water about where guitars get their tone to me. I didn't weigh guitar but if it makes it to 20lbs, would be surprised.

The sound is surprisingly good. As you might expect, the tone is a bit thin but you can more easily channel your inner Ralph Mooney, and cut thru the band's sludge.

Really a sweet little guitar with a tendency to walk around if you're giving your KLs a good workout.

The Jackson Blackjack Custom is also a light guitar. I'm not really good at measurements, but I'm guessing it weighs 24 pounds
