Little by little I am getting the paint off. I did find the illusive "Billy Carr" name again under the paint... Hard yo see on the pic but it was there.

That POOR yellow guitar looks like Les Paul TV Special from the 50's... What BLOCKHEAD sub moron could ever do such a thing to a great guitar?.. btw, I seem to recall seeing this pic before.... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I'd be curious how many hours you will use finish this project. Maybe you don't even want to think about that. Steve t |

Well this guitar's damage is too great (still scratching head) in the underside to do a clear finish so she will get some black flocking like an Emmons.

Did you guys initially talk about maybe making a new cabinet? It seems like fairly fundamental woodwork (says someone who has never made one).
That must have been a lot of work. I'm glad you have salvaged her. Mr Carr has sold his last guitar here I hope. |

I thought about a new cabinet which I could do but this one will be fine once it's re-mica'd and flocked. Looks like it will be a black top and possible blue or wood front. Damir will decide a little later. _________________ I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you

I know, it was undercoating.
But seriously, I'm wondering what flocking does, whether it's for mechanical sound damping, or just a finish.
Of all the parts of a guitar, it seems that the body has the most mojo attached to it, rightly or not.
Recently a Sho-Bud with a new dieboard body was advertised and there was some disagreement about its true provenance.

I'm beginning to wonder about this job. However, that neck isn't going anywhere. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

I think stronger beer may be what caused this mess in the first place.

Dropped off the end plates, pedal bar, and other small parts to Doug Moss at Bud's Polishing today on my lunch. Don't be deceived by the shop, pure delight happens inside that building...
