Forgive the self-adulation, but I feel proud of this inclusion in DownBeat. It's just a one page profile, but it focuses mostly on steel guitar and I get to mention a few of my heros. The title of the article is "Lap of Luxury for Monk Tribute".

I've always wanted to be in DownBeat and of course Guitar Player, etc., so this feels especially nice since it was about my steel playing.

"Lap of Luxury for Monk Tribute" Sounds right.

Self-adulation accepted, otherwise I wouldn't've seen it. DownBeat is pretty cool.

Congratulations, Mr. Neer. Rare occasion for a steel player. Quite an accomplishment indeed.

Diana Krall on the cover. Should be in stores in about a week. I subscribe to the digital edition, that's why I have it. Really good issue, with even a little interview with Allan Holdsworth, where he says in the last line of the interview about a new record he was working on, "If I ever get it done before I croak."

Congratulations Mike. You really deserve it.

Your CD is one of my all time favorites of all genres that I listen to. The mature musicianship that you and your peers display is magnificent, and the tones you get out of your rig are nothing short of perfect. I love each of the songs so much that I never skip a track. I also like the quality of the recording. Reminds me of when records used to sound GOOD.

Congrats Mike,

Well deserved, one of the best albums in my collection.

Looking forward to seeing you guys play this summer in Westfield.

BTW, Glenn's band Shadowlands will be at Roxy and Dukes in Dunellen, on May 20, stop by if you can.

Thanks! Should be on the stands now, so if you're in your local Barnes & Noble, thumb through it.

It is great to see the steel guitar get noticed in alternate forms of music. Way to go Mike....

Thanks, Robert! To me, Country is an alternative form of music. Laughing
What makes me happy is that the record has been well received by the Jazz community (and the steel community, of course). You would be surprised at how many "cats", and I mean that in the heaviest way, really dig steel guitar and have told me so.
