Would appreciate some setting ideas for the SE 300. It's a very good amp and has a great tone.

That is the amp I use. Contact Scott Buffington, the fellow who makes the amp. Scott has my settings.

Joe, here is Scott Buffington's phone number:
336-270-5700
Make sure you ask Scott about the "flange" setting in the back of the amp. The flange makes the sound bigger. If set correctly, you will not hear the flange until the reverb setting in the front is above 4. I keep the reverb setting at 4, because I don't want to hear the flange. I just want the flange to make the sound bigger.
Joe, here is what I would do if I were you. Read the little booklet sent with the amp. Then contact Scott and have Scott talk you through each setting. You will need your steel guitar set up to play as you talk to Scott on the phone. Scott will give you my settings, but you may want something different. In talking to Scott on the telephone, while you play and turn knobs, will dial in what you want. The amps of today are complex. It is best to take the time to fully understand the control knobs. Scott's help as you play the amp and talk to him on the telephone will be essential in getting what you want.
If you are still having problems, I will tell you where I set each knob in the front and in the back of the amp. I will try to do that tonight or tomorrow. My settings are in my pack-a-seat, and my pack-a-seat is about 30 miles away right now. I will be playing a dance tonight and I will get the list of settings and get back with you.
