If Ian's are not right and you need the earlier version of the waffle pedals with the cast rod retainer clips, let me know. _________________ Chris Lucker

Thanks Ian and Chris....
Here is the style I'm looking for:
I can cut down the "tubes" (the part the axle goes through) to size as long as they are wide enough to begin with....
Specifically, I am looking to replace the first three pedals on a '63-ish permanent. _________________ Tommy Detamore

Tommy, I sent you an email with this picture. The pedals I have are early '70s, it's the same casting but they do not have the folding clip. You would need to swap the rod end for a quick release ball, or drill and tap new holes to swap out the old clips.

Your pedals seem to have newer fabricated clips. The way they are notched for the rod mounting stud is smart, but I have never seen that detail on a Permanent. Nor have I seen Phillips head screws.
The only Sho-Bud pedal I have with your era waffle style Permanent pedal is this one with the original clip. These clips tend to break as they are cast.

That could very well be Chris. There are some things underneath that are not "stock" items. Some things appear to have been custom made, but made quite well as far as I can tell.
Thanks! _________________ Tommy Detamore

What vintage are the ones on the right Chris? Those are some cool bits of mid-century industrial art. |

I don't know what those are. I cannot recall how I got them.
Anybody?
Are they Miller? Are they Sho-Bud? _________________ Chris Lucker

For a little off-topic sizzle, these below, by the way, are the pedals Shot Jackson first used. They were made by Don Davis for use on the dragsters he built. Don Davis was a session steel player, sometimes Red Foley player, producer and co-Founder of the DALAND pedal steel guitar with Hank Garland and Shot Jackson.
These pedals are from the first DALAND made.

I especially like that they're displayed on a cowhide covered telecaster. _________________ Mostly Pre-1970 guitars. |

That's just the back. The front is Waylonized. I could not figure out what I wanted on the back. So, heck, I said hair-on-hide calf.
It is a custom replica 1950 Esquire with a 1 1/2 inch pine body. The black lacquer kept coming off the body onto my clothes, so I had the body covered. Strangely enough, it did not affect the tone at all.
