Hi all, first post. Always promised I'd buy myself a pedal steel for my 50th after 35 years of playing guitar. Well the time draws nigh and this forum has been a rich source of information.
So, with very limited choice here in Australia, I have the option of buying a secondhand JCM S10 3/4. I understand they're built by Darrell Stiles and are a relatively new brand. Has anyone here actually owned or had meaningful experience with a JCM (Jefferson County Music) and share their thoughts? Thanks |

i just spoke with the guy who makes them. he makes around 10 to 12 year. i have a lady who is comming this
week with her JCM S-10 for some work done on the guitar. will let you know what i think

Yep, that's the one alright.
Contacted Darrell Stiles and JCM about it, this was his reply:
It's a very early sd-10 with the old logo. It is a triple raise/double lower changer. Someone has put a BMI fretboard on it which is a 24 1/8 scale. The guitar is a 24 inch scale so the fret markers will be off. It should have 5 hole bell cranks made out of 5/16 inch steel tubing. It has a Wallace tru-tone pickup. I don't know how it got to Australia. i sold it to an older fellow around Kansas City. It is a good sounding instrument |

I agree with Bob, I bought a JCM from Bob and have owned two since. I love the lacquer models
Marvelous guitars. They can be really dressed up too
the red one is currently for sale

HI,Ive bought one on the Forum,a couple mounths ago.Blue one on a double frame.The pedals & Knees worked so hard That I had to lower all finger pulls.More troubles.The open strings came back flat.Had to omint most brass washers.Also,Limited pedal cross rods springs.The aulimun metal ends that hold the fingers,They were square ends &felt sharp to the finger..I rounded them off.Steel came with a Lawrence 710.Great sound.
