No personal involvement, but I thought I'd alert interested parties to an offering from the Big Box Brain Trust, Indiana Division. Although their quants have fixed this as a D-10, I see two more tuners per neck. For what it's worth:

Wondering how they even know it is a 1970? Good price.

Alan,
The picture was taken at the Hotel Meade at a Wisconsin Steel Show. Very Happy
Playing that guitar would drive anybody to drink! Laughing

Boards on the GC guitar are not original judging by the blue color. I am leery of any Emmons that has been "restored" after buying the one I currently own. The pedals seem to be closer together like guitars built in the mid-seventies. Tempting...

Whelp... I couldn't help myself. I bought it. It needs some love, but that's okay. The copedant is way off for my liking and one leg is bent. Regardless, it has a good home now and is in pretty fair shape overall. I don't know what all I'll do to it (or have done to it) right now. It has a crazy low serial number and it's my first laquer Emmons!

Thanks, Dave! I'm so excited. I am taking a break from playing it right now. The extra low end on the E9 alone is worth the price of admission. Completely changes how I can play some songs and what I can do on rhythm while the guitar player takes a solo.

Erv, I sat down a few minutes ago and started nosing around the forum for more info on D 12 P/P steels. You shared the serial number of your instrument and this was indeed yours!!! Wow! Were you the first owner? Can you share anything more about it?

Brandon,
No, I wasn't the 1st owner.
I was interested in the E9th extended tuning at the time I bought tut but gave up on that idea and sold the guitar.
It was a beautiful instrument and sounded great! Very Happy

It sounds fantastic, that's for sure. This is the first I've tried extended E9 and I think it's a real winner. I also think it's fascinating to consider it was "top of the line" in its day. The lacquer finish is so handsome to me. I see it's been passed around quite a bit, but it's quickly found a soft spot in my musical heart. I think I'm holding on to this one.
