I'd have this design, on a navy blue mica body.

What would you put on your guitar?

Those kinds of designs are nice for other folks guitars, but for me, I keep it simple. I'm a "plain" guy, and I can't pull that fancy stuff off, lol.

When I played Country Gospel in the 80's, I had a small wooden cross on my Sierra. I thought it looked good, I guess I grew out of that phase, lol.

I think that design you posted would look great on a new MSA!

I'd have my wood necked D-10 P/P refinished in two-tone, candy-apple wine & clear - (like Billy Knowles recent ZB inspired Emmons). That to me is the epitome of country chic !

That design would be fine if you plan to keep the guitar, however, if you ever want to sell it then it's another matter. Very Happy

Maybe a design like that is kind of like a tattoo...seems like a good idea at first after a night of imbibing, but after the high wears off... Wink

I would rather have a highly figured piece of Maple with the colouring used to enhance the grain and feature of the wood itself !!

I'm not into garish pieces of artwork on guitars personally :-}

This is one of the nicest finishes I have ever seen. I'd like a guitar with this finish.

Nothing beats nicely figured wood. Fancy "designs" only detract. I would never ever buy a guitar, a car or anything with such "enhancements". Less actually is more!

I would like a panel of LED lights that you could type messages in and they would scroll by as you were playing. I'd have presets that you would need often like "Please get me a Beer" or " Quit yelling! drunk guy in the back"or " turn my monitor up". You could also make jokes about your fellow band members. But mostly it would say: "Cut me some slack, this is really hard"

Mike,

Just wanted to mention, I'm certainly not "poking fun" at your idea - In this "2D" internet world of miscommunication, I realize meaning can sometimes get lost in the translation. If you, or anyone would like a design like that on an instrument, I say "go for it." I was simply stating that since I'm a no frills guy, I don't think I could pull it off.

For example, in church services, you will NEVER see me in a jacket and tie. I wear nice jeans, and a decent shirt, but no three piece suit for me, lol.

Thinking about it more, I might be able to go for some type of mother of pearl inlay or scroll-work across the front apron. I believe that would look nice, and I seem to recall even seeing a guitar like that before on here or somewhere online.

Actually, I agree that nothing beats a beautiful wood grain. If you re-read my original post I said I'd put the design on a mica guitar.

I have basically owned 4 steels,(all MSAs.) The green one in my avatar, a white tidewood mica one, and my 2 Millies. The only one I ever decorated was the white Millie, which I thought looked really dull and unattractive.

The design itself is an example of fractal art. You can see more of it here.

I would use a decal, if you get tired of it after a while you could peel it off. Very Happy

This was a bad idea! I trimmed my black steel in orange pinstripe and put a Harley sticker on the end. Now every time I tear it down to put it in the case there's an oil spot left behind. Rolling Eyes

LOL! I bet it "clunks" when you shift it intro gear, too. Mr. Green
