I caught a little Chris Scruggs the other day, great player, but it led me back to Kayton Roberts. Chris has Kayton down but Kayton really rocks. So great to know that the guys who paved the way are still active and still so inspiring. One more thing, anyone know why a Florida boy would have Canadian flags so prominently displayed on his gear, aside from his Hank Snow connection? Cheers all.

Kayton is from Florida I believe. Certainly the US. In one video he says something about having so many friends in Canada.

I agree Kayton Roberts is amazing...saw him in St Louis several times and there are lots of great youtube clips of his playing, with this one being one of my favorites and an inspiration for me to learn this tune:

I love to hear country and western musicians playing the Latin-tinged stuff, and this drives me crazy:

Fantastic playing all round, but when he just starts tapping out the clave, I lost it -- that is some fine accompaniment.

That yellow bird cut is just terrific in so many ways. The thing I always note about Kayton is the sense of joy he always brings to his performances. They call it "playing" music and he personifies that sense of play.

Wow, I hadn't seen that clip. Joy is right...to everyone around him. A man who loves what he does, will never work a day in his life. Isn't that the old quote? I learn a little something every time I see him. He's a treasure.

Kayton is awesome! I love this clip too--Kayton, Chris, and Kenny really shine on this tune--played with originality in the spirit of Hank!

I watched Kayton tonight on the Marty Stuart show on RFD channel. They always do a rerun of the same show on Sunday morning so I'll get to watch it a 2nd time.
