I miss him and the steel guitar worlds misses him too.

I was in class in 1980 and employed his instructional material for many years following. He was also a source for many steel guitar accessories and products.

Beyond that, he was mentor, teacher, fabulous musician and one of the best steel guitar players ever.

Thanks for posting the memorial Werner.

Seems like the last class Jeff taught was at the TX Jamboree in 2004. I got the attend that one just prior to his passing. May the Lord of peace and comfort meet the needs of Fran and family today.

Ford, unfortunately, Fran passed away this past November. May she and Jeff RIP, together again.

I owe my proficiency and my approach to pedal steel to Jeff, although I only went to 2 of his seminars when I was starting out on pedal steel in 1975-7. I bought a lot of his courses, too. What a guy!

Jeff, without a doubt was at the top with the best. He could have been put up to anyone, and he would have shown bright. He knew his music, not only the pedal steel, but was a master of many other instruments. He was one fine man, and a major loss to the pedal steel community. So very sad, without a doubt the best instructor there was.

Jeff was a great instructor and had a real knack for explaining things clearly. Back in the '80's I lived in Chicago. I would save whatever money I could and then go to his school in Nashville, spend all my money and then go back to Chicago to save up more for the next go around. I will always have great memories of those times.
