Great job as always by Gary. He comes up with some very beautiful chord voicings. A great player.

I listened to 2:03 several times. Personal opinion pinion, not a mistake. Gary uses a lot of different chord voicings, and this seems to be another example that fits the song.

Yep, it sounds kind of jarring, but he obviously put a lot of time into it. Doubt he would leave in a clam, that's why I edited that post.

I applaud it, whether raising the root to go to relative major/minor, or having the melody take the passing tone on it's way to the second,
there's a turnaround in the bass that makes it make sense to me. I dig it, likewise with the last chord.

It catches the ear all right but is quite in keeping with his whole approach.

I have enormous respect for Gary and his playing but regardless of whether that is technically a mistake it doesn't work for me. Maybe my ear just isn't sophisticated enough.
