I would like to know if my Fender Blues Jr. III amp is suitable for PSG. It will only be used in my music room. Thanks

I use a Blues Junior at home with an Emmons student model and it sounds great to my old ears. Just back off on the treble and boost the bass a tad.

Mine's an older one (August, 2000); not sure if or how the BJ III would be any different. It certainly wouldn't hurt anything to try it, as Erv suggests. There are folks who are getting by just fine with lesser amps in their music rooms.

Yes. I have used one at practices, sessions, and even once downtown Nashville at Legends (yes, mic'ed). It is under-powered for un-miced gigs, when volumes are loud, but -- your music room - it should be wonderful.

I own 4 Blues Jr IIIs... Ha!!

Thanks for the input guys. The reason that I brought up this subject is because I won't be getting a pedal steel for another two weeks or so. That's why I haven't "tried it." I just wanted to see if anybody out there has. Thanks. Smile

Turn the Master all the way on 12, and then you can adjust the Volume up just a little (1, 2, 2.5) to taste (and use all the clean headroom you can).

Good luck!

I have an older version, and can't say I was that pleased with the results. I love the amp for guitar but not so much for steel. I hope you have better luck than I did.

A very usable amp for steel in the practice room and up to moderate volume gigs.
Has a nice tube sound to it. Doubles as a great guitar amp. Has verb.
It is not the squeaky clean SS sound many PSG players prefer.
If you are practicing in a very small room the hiss may bother you some, but it is not a deal breaker.
The new amps come with various speaker options. Personally I like the original Eminence for steel. The circuits are identical once they moved the factory to Mexico.
