IT just hit me all at once about how to do palm blocking for speed pickin. I tried it on rocky Top and it works beautifully.

I could always do speed on the C6th but never on the E9th to my liking. Amazing how things just seem to work when you least expect them to.

Now I have something to look forward to when I'm 88.

Thats just 35 years of practicing.. I've been playing longer than that. So add about 10 more years to your calculation ...LOL Cool

Very interesting. What was the change? Were you practicing a particular lick or passage? Tried a new hand position?

Actually a new hand position did the trick.

I tried everything and nothing seemed to work the way I wanted it to. I could do some speed but the faster I played the worse my blocking got. I hope this works out.

I played in a bluegrass band for a few years a long time ago. A fried of mine showed me how to burn the strings up. I tried and it just fell into place. About the same way steel speed did.

So if I keep at it, somewhere about age 98 it will all fall into place. Great!
