I love Marty and will be seeing him locally next month and really enjoy his openness on his career and country music in general.

Also just got his new cd 'Way out West' yesterday and after 3 play-throughs, think it is awesome.

I hear so many different styles and influences of West Coast Country Music, Roger McGuinn (Byrds), Glenn Campbell (Guess I'm Dumb-Brian Wilson)etc. just to name a few. Listen and check it out.

Great steel by Chris Scruggs and Gary Carter and great playing and producing by Mike Campbell.

Dan Rather gives a good interview; musicians seem to respond to him. I really appreciated Marty's honesty in his account of himself.

But I really didn't know he was a musician until I heard him play mandolin on a Gary Carter tune. Really increased my respect for the guy.

Enjoyed the interview. Amazing story about his arrival in Nashville. I gather he got the gig with Johnny Cash. What a story.

There was a wonderful long interview with Marty on Outlaw Country (Sirius) last Sunday.
I bought the album (W.O.W.) after hearing the interview: it is a GREAT album.

He did one recently on "Walkin' The Floor" too that I just heard today. It's Chris Shiflett's podcast. Lots of other good interviews in there as well.

Thanks Guys!

The more I listen to this album, the more there is, it's really brilliant as to the nods to the West, especially California are hidden in the songs.

I hear Roger McGuinn and the Byrds, Glenn Campbell, Burittos, Surf Music, my brother -in-law said 'Link Wray' and so much more.

It's kind of like a Marty Stuart 'Smile' recording, lots of great guitar, not a ton of steel but, a lot of steel influenced guitar by Marty (B-Bender) and Mike Campbell.

So much stuff is disposable these day after a few listens, but this one is more akin to 'Sweethearts of the Rodeo' to me.
