Michael F Smith, (have to use the F other Michael Smiths were taken.}
I live in Sebastopol, CA and build ukuleles at my workshop at my home. http://www.goatrockukulele.com . I hope to learn to play lap steel well enough in the coming years to add a little texture to the ukulele groups I play with. I have no idea if this is a reasonable expectation but nothig ventured will end in nothing.

So hello to all and here we go.

Why not? I think steel and uke sounds complement each other.

Beautiful instruments, especially the Queen Bee Tenor; magnificent work.
On the Koi Concert, is the sound hole on the side to project sound to the player?

Yes indeed, beautiful work. I'm reluctant to show your website to my wife for fear of the dent it might make in my bank account.

Uke and lapsteel (for me, especially, a hollow neck) is a perfect instrumental combo. Go for it!

" is the sound hole on the side to project sound to the player?"

Thank you for the kind words. Yes the side sound port helps the player hear what he or she is doing when playing with a group. Some say it increases the over all volume as well. I'm a bit skeptical of those claims.

Beautiful work! There's no reason why you can learn steel. You have obviously know about dedication and patience from your lutherie work. Dive on in and feel free to ask questions.
