Had an experience yesterday I just have to share with you guys/gals. I took my “new to me†Zum SD-10 to Bruce
for him to change the copedent. I had the privilege of
watching this master craftsman do his magic.
In his shop everything has a place and everything is in
it’s place. As he was removing parts, getting other parts and yes actually made some parts it was beautiful to watch the process. This guitar is the only one of its kind which he made and has a “bunch†of extra stuff on it including a keyless changer. After he finished his work he sat down and fine tuned every pedal, lever and string then played at little. All this time we were able to carry on a very interesting conversation and I will always remember this two hours with Bruce. Thank you Bruce for building such magnificent machines.
If you are interested in learning more about this master craftsman he has a very interesting book on his journey with the steel guitar, called “My Life and the Steel Guitar†by Bruce Zumsteg. He also demonstrates his ability to play the steel on his CD called "Just Kickin' Backâ€. |

Bruce builds the only guitar that sounds as good as a PP. I am so sorry I sold my Zum D-10 years ago, but it was during a period when I was "done" with music & didn't want any part of the "scene" anymore. Big mistake. _________________ A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag. |

Bruce is the absolute best. Read his book, listen to his music, play his guitars, talk with him ...and you will know.
I admire him and his work tremendously, and I'm proud to call him friend.

Bruce has built several steels for me and my customers. He even went to the trouble to cut the rear panel out for more leg room for me. This was a great help with long legs. If he answers the phone, he will do his best to help out with problems, parts or questions. The pedal steel community is very lucky to have this type of builder. Thanks Bruce |

Yeah Joe, and it sits and swivels just as good as it looks. Funny how they match, I bought the seat before I bought the Zum..... |
