I have a Peavey LTD S/N 8A 148 215 chrome knobs etc.
I believe this was born around 1978. ???? This thing has a killer sound. I assume this was a good year for the LTD??
Old JBL orange frame speaker
Just trying to find a age for this thing.
Thanks for your help.

I'd agree with Gary... Smile

FWIW, I was working at a Peavey dealer when those were new, and we sold a lot of those. That orange frame JBL probably isn't original, not that that's a bad thing. The early LTD and Session 400s (I'm not sure about '78 ) came with private label JBLs, a black frame JBL with a Peavey label on the back. They didn't hold up so well with 200W, and we had stacks of blown JBLs to be sent back to Peavey. When the BW came along later, blown speakers were rare.

Bill, that is how the Black Widow was "born", ie; because the JBL couldn't handle the power. A perfect opportunity to introduce the Peavey Black Widow speaker line.

Hi Mike, yep. I remember that from when I toured the Peavey factory in Meridian. They showed us the BW facility and gave us some of the history.

I'll never forget meeting Hartley, quite a guy. Good times, I miss those days..
