I heard "Let's Work Together" last Sunday and then looked up the history of Canned Heat on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia says Mike Perlowin was the original lead guitarist, but left the band after a few days.

Is this our SGF friend Mike Perlowin?

Best Regards,
Sam

Yes. Mike has talked about this a number of times, including very recently - http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=313267

Thanks Sam and Dave for the links, I missed them the first time. Who knew?

I can see why it might not be a laughing matter, two days with Canned Heat creating more notoriety than years of recording great music.
I don't even know of anyone who'd thought up such a thing before Mike.

Now, that's funny.

It's true.I was 18 years old, and Alan Wilson, Bob Hite and 2 other guys and me formed a garage band. Alan and Bob stuck with it and the band became very successful a few years later.

The band may be considered important, but this is not an important episode in my life. Who among us didn't play in a teen age garage band?

I think my accomplishments on the steel are far more significant.
