Was it Jimmy Crawford or Doug Jernigan that came up with the intro for this tune by Faron Young?

I know that is Jimmy in the clip but I have seen a clip with Doug playing it also.

It doesn't sound anything like a Jernigan lick, to me...more along the lines of something Jimmy or Hal would do.

I was thinking Jimmy also. There is a Hee Haw clip with Doug playing it but then a lot of the stuff on there was pre-recorded. So I wondered?

It's in Lloyd's style, and he was on many Faron hits in the 60's. So I'm betting it was Lloyd Green on the original cut.

Herb is probably right.

it's cool to hear how Jimmie and Doug each interpreted it. and man, Jimmie really kills it on that clip above.

here's Doug's rendition from the Porter show, starting around 2:35

Lloyd just contacted me and asked me to let you know he created and recorded that solo on the Faron Young record.

BTW, "I Just Came to get My Baby (Out of here)" was written by the late, great Wayne Kemp, who also wrote "Love Bug" for George Jones, and "One Piece at a Time" for Johnny Cash.

Faron's version of "I Just Came to get My Baby (Out of here)" was released during July of 1968, and in October of the same year Carl Butler and Pearl released their version on Columbia records. There isn't any YouTubes of it but here's my Sound Cloud file of the song. Does anyone know who played steel on this version?

Wayne was one of the greatest country songwriters of all time.

I'm guessing, but I'm going to say Pete Drake. (Funny confession, I almost typed "Paul Drake" because I was just watching a Perry Mason rerun)

Oh yes, Lloyd on the Faron cut for sure. I was talking about the Carl and Pearl Butler cut might be Pete Drake. Somebody probably has that information archived and will tell us.
