Hello Fellow Steelers,
Just a quick note to let any and everyone know, who might be interested in a beginners E9th pedal steel seminar we will be holding at the Dallas Show. It will be from 9am to 12noon on Friday March the 10th. We will cover everything from your picks, holding the bar, vibrato, tuning the steel, tuning your pedals, split tuning, basic picking grips, chords, scales, a little on the Nashville Number System, reading tabs (easy), some famous intros & outros (endings). I will be teaching several easier songs, but I will also have some intermediate material to challenge you. We will work on major chords, minors, diminished, augmented, 7ths, 9ths, Maj7's, Min7's, etc. You will learn to hear them and recognize them once you start utilizing them in your playing. I have several players already signed up from the Jamboree website. The cost is $30 dollars, and is a great value for 3 hours of intense immersion in the steel guitar. I will provide booklets, tabs, songs on cd's and rhythm tracks to play along with and improve your skills. I will go over when you should play with a singer, and when not to! We will give you a "bunch" of material to take home with you. You can contact me at larrytoliver@windstream.net, or call me on my cell phone at 325.518.3947. If you call, I usually answer, but sometimes I may have to call you right back. I look forward to hearing from you.
Later,
Larry Toliver

Well, up to 13 registered steelers for the beginners class, with 2 or 3 more promising to come and pay at the door. I'm checking with Albert to see how big the room is to know where to close the registration.
Thanks to all those coming!

Hi Larry,

Have you considered recording the session to DVD and selling the video? I'd love to make it to the show but cannot this year. I'd be interested in the recording plus the material.

Thanks, Jonathan

Currently registered at 15 students paid. I've had a few from other countries and states that are saying they will be there, and pay at the door. Albert Talley said the room will hold about 25 and me. I'm making 30 booklets, cds, backing tracks, etc. So some who didn't make the class can purchase the materials later. Thanks to everyone for all of your help and support. See you at Dallas, and please come up and introduce yourself. I've never met a stranger.

The beginners E9th seminar is now at 20 registered students. Evidently the phone number on the Texas Jamboree site to register for the seminar is incorrect for me. If anyone has tried to call that number....this is my correct number... (1 digit off) 325.518.3947

Thanks

That was a great class, Larry.

It was my first formal steel instruction and I can only say I should have sought it out earlier.

Appreciate your advice, effort, and friendly nature.

Great class. And a take home booklet that is rich in learning material to boot.

Practice - practice - practice
