Hello Mike, its been a long time. Hope you are well.

I've heard the Vegas 400 was designed with one channel voiced for guitar, the other for steel. Is this true, and if so, which channel for steel? Lonnie Portwood, Jax., Fl.

Lonnie, do you have this document:

https://assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80370382.pdf

It reads to me that either channel can be used for steel, but the preferred one is the "lead" channel. I base this on the description of "Presence Control":

"The lead channel is the first choice for many instruments which require special equilization such as steel guitar, keyboards, fiddle, etc."

Notice that they didn't mention guitar.

Regards,
Lee

You can also use both channels with a stereo effect and it is a great sound. I had a friend that used one with a Gibson 335 (sounded great)....thanks jack

You do it like you would do 2/amps, just plug one into each channel, it gives you a lot fuller sound.

In my experience... the active eq channel with the paramid sounds best with my emmons PP...

The channel with the conventional tonestack sounds best with my 74 Shobud.

Either channel is fine with six string.

The stock 1502 speaker is not to my taste.

Not quite stereo. Only one channel in the power amp. Only one speaker.

Lane, if you have ever stacked two cabinets with a stereo rig that is the sound you are getting. Don,t knock it until you tried it....thanks jack

2 different EQ paths for the same input will make it sound fuller. So will my practice of running a single output into two speakers with different responses.
But unless you have two different signals into two different speakers, what you have is enhanced mono, but it's still not stereo.
I wasn't knocking the technique; just the terminology.
