I find the reverb almost useless. Way too deep and wet. Too all or nothing. I skip it & use a box.

Same here. The reverb has a very long tail, too long. The only way to reduce it is to reduce the amount of reverb, but then the overall sound is too dry. I used a reverb box with my FSK.

Here's a link to the MOD reverb tank I put in mine:

Great improvement for $20 and much better construction than the Accutronics tank it replaced!

Greg--aside from better general quality, does it shorten the tail? Doug's description is right on.

Not sure! I can just say it was less metallic and not at all annoying anymore. It will never approach the hall reverb quality of a good stomp box.

According to the description, that MOD tank has a "Long (16 ¾") 3 Spring Unit , Long Decay (2.75 to 4.0 seconds)"

When I had my Steel King, I used a Holy Grail Plus reverb, "spring" setting. To my ears, spring sounds more vintage and real than hall or plate settings in most digital reverbs.

If I were to do this (I, too, am quite satisfied with pedals and don't know if it's worth dealing with the tank), the link above appears to be the identical unit, but with 'medium' decay. I think this is what I'd get.

I was considering getting that one (medium decay) when I had my Steel King. I'm surprised that the company has no audio demos of the reverbs. It would be easy to make a few short demos of each tank. Seems like something buyers would want to hear.

I just changed out the tank per Greg Cutshaw's suggestion and it makes a nice difference. Seems to smooth things out.
