Shipping charges for the major carriers have increased an average of 5%!!! This a tremendous increase. Especially since we are being told that inflation is only 2%. Yeah, right. That's on top of a similar increase last year.

Both UPS and USPS hit me (on the west coast) with over 10% increases in January. Shipping the average 6-string guitar just to the midwest now costs $98! Shipping large amps is now almost prohibitive unless they are vintage/collector's items.

I remember some time mid last year hearing a short "filler" piece that really seemed like a venue to announce that the freight and package handlers would be raising their fees sometime next year, which apparently is now Oh Well and today I got a notice in the snail box that in April my internet service, which is all I use from Comcast/Xfinity,increase. I sure didn't expect an increase of 40% or so. Now I pay approximately 55$ and change, in April it goes to 89$ and that doesn't include the taxes and various surcharges that come with it Confused

shipping charges are NOT just for the cost of a package, from point A to point B, it's calculated over the expenses of an entire company , cost of vehicles, cost of employees, benefits , operating costs, everything...

"FIXED my math"

We pay over a $1 for bottled water@ 8 0z , thats $16 / gallon. I overlooked there are 4 qts pr gallon..not ONE !

Big picture...

Umm, there are 128 ounces in a gallon, which is 16 8 ounce bottles. Razz That equates to $16 a gallon! Whoa!

I think shipping has took a lot of the fun out of internet shopping. I used to buy records a lot and now its just not even within their price range due to shipping. The last time I shipped a steel I used FedEx and found it to be reasonable compared to my local UPS drop off which always quotes a price at least 50 dollars higher.

Last steel I shipped was to Nashville and it was a D-10 and I shipped FedEx. It was $57 for shipping. I asked agent at FedEx what if I were dropped and damaged, she said the declared value is what that's for. Don't quite understand these $150 shipping cost and about this insurance.
I also have a FedEx account which makes a little cheaper.

I knew that, I was thinking Quarts ! I'm only good at counting money, everything else is secondary. Laughing
