What a treat to see Buddy and Albert Lee swapping off. Hope all of the younger steel players can see the influence of Buddy Emmons. I've talked to a few that aren't even familiar with him....Sad

Mike Bell (piano), Evan Marshall (fiddle), Brian Hodgson (bass), Peter Baron (drums), Gerry Hogan (guitar) along, of course, with Buddy and Albert.

Gerry's UK steel festival in 1988.

I was watching this with a friend (a guitar player) who remarked: "The most musical person on the planet."

(Thanks to Mr. Roger Rettig for identifying the Hogan's Heroes musicians)

Here is "Night Life" & "There's a New Moon Over My Shoulder" from the same concert.

One of my oldest friends who also happens to be a superb bassist was persuaded to come to this concert.

It was against his better judgement - he hated steel guitars and country music in general - but I was gratified by his eventual critique. Here was someone who was almost determined not to enjoy himself and who was extremely prejudiced before he even sat down but, after the show, he said:

"Emmons makes the steel guitar sound like a musical instrument!"

Tongue-in-cheek, certainly, but Bill still remembers this performance with pleasure.

You can play the material directly from here or right click and "Save as" to download it. Enjoy.

Gerry had an EMCI at this point but was a pale blue colour. This is Buddy's guitar in the video.
