Sorry to hear about James passing. I first met James in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Then we got him for our Baxter Springs, Kansas show. He was a nice person and he will be missed. Condolences to his family. Ray _________________ Ray Qualls

A huge loss to our community.
Condolences to Tree and the family. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

I echo the sadness, and desolate sense of loss, expressed here. He is irreplaceable to his family and friends, but there is more.
James Morehead occupies a special place in the panoply of steel-guitar enthusiasts. He was a restorer. James understood the art of adding "new-ness".
Because of James, Sho-Bud steel-guitars still sing that would have been forever silent. Because of James, a select number of steel-guitar players are blessed with fine vintage instruments.
Because of James, our little cyber-community was enriched with a priceless talent, freely given by a genuinely gifted person.
RIP James Morehead. _________________ The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being. |

I had some discussion with James and I want to express my condolences to family. We were touching bases on some Sho Bud stuff as he was getting treatments. I lost track of all this cause I have been away for a while. I don't usually visit this part of the forum, so I have only just found this out. I bought a sho bud off James in 2011. James was an absolute gentleman to deal with. This makes me very sad. My condolences to James' family. RIP. |

Devastated. I spent countless hours with him talking Sho-Bud. He had such a positive attitude with his battle. The last time we spoke he said "They're gonna light me up", referring to radiation. Truly a sad day. RIP James and blessings to his family. |

I'm very sorry to learn of James passing and enjoyed speaking with him a few times over the past few years. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone here on the forum could help me get in touch with his wife regarding the return of my instrument, since James won't be able to finish it. |
