Did he leave out the two bottom strings when he played an eight string guitar?

I am not for sure Tim but I think their was no F#/D#,
1st. & 2nd. string. Their are those on here that can set me straight on this. This has been talked about here many times. In the beginning before pedals the 1st. string was E. Then someone added pedals and then someone added the G# in front of the E. Mooney may have had the first G# but I do not know, I have forgotten. Emmon's may have had the first G# and or the chromatic strings, 1st. & 2nd. Maybe someone else will chime in here. I for sure am not qualified. J.R.

I think it's safe to assume he dropped the bottom two strings for his eight string tuning. We know he must have had the G# because you can hear mutations of his famous "Rainy Day Woman" lick throughout his early recordings with Wynn Stewart and others.
