Hi fellows. After completing my first project I am now starting my second one. This one's for my friend Tomas who asked me to build one for him after he saw mine. This would be a different model. Wood selected is What I believe is called "blue mahoe" ... MAJO ... in spanish for the main body. It would be an 8 stringer, possibly tuned to A6th.

Thanks for watching.

Carlos

Cool piece of wood Carlos. A quick search of blue mahoe shows it to be around the weight and hardness of sugar / hard rock maple. I'll bet it finishes out nice and should make for a nice steel.

Congratulations, Carlos. A beauty! I like the wood figuring of the fretboard.

You are welcome, Carlos. I always admire and appreciate the effort when someone makes a steel.

Just want to share an update on my second project. All I need to do is wire the the guitar and "presto".
Then, move to my next project which will be restoring and upgrading my Carter Starter.
Thanks for looking.

Hey Carlos,

How thick is the fretboard piece? What type of saw did you use to cut the slots for the fret lines?

I'm planning something (sort of) similar, and I'm trying to envision the fretboard construction, and I'm a bit clueless...

Hi Andy. The thickness of the fret board is 3/8" thick and the slots for the fret lines were cut with a circular table saw about 1/8" deep or slightly less. Visualize everything fist, make a drawing (put it on paper with all measures) and go from there. (make a plan) I hope I'm clear about this.

By the way, thank you for looking.
