At least better entertainers than if the other party had won.

What are the similarities, exactly?

Well, I never looked at a presidential inauguration as an entertainment venue
but as long as Madonna doesn't show up I will be OK.

I would rather focus on and enjoy whoever performs, each performer. Those that decide to not perform I really don't care, they can walk away quietly and they should get zero attention. Why does anyone care who doesn't perform ? Why is it even news or part of a discussion ? Why are they getting more attention , or ANY attention over than the ones who will actually perform ?

It just makes no sense.

Question

Question

It's the media's attempt to insert politics into everything. Each person who decides not to perform is being considered a "victory" for those who insist on negativity.

If a performer is good, the performance will be rewarding to hear whether they are playing for a stadium audience, a fire department fundraiser or an inauguration. Sadly, some cannot let it be about the music, and must turn the performance, or even the LISTENING TO the performance, into something partisan.

It doesn't appear to me that they are receiving any undue attention. It is noted on both occasions that they (simply) bailed on the gig. Maybe you would rather they just didn't show up unannounced without offering any excuse..

Actually what I'd rather see is performers honoring the commitments they made and not bailing at all. But apparently they are being subjected to threats and intimidation demanding that they not play.

Jennifer Holiday: "“It brought a lot of threats from people already saying I’ll never work again,” she told the newspaper."

Andrea Bocelli: " Mr. Bocelli had decided not to perform because he feared a backlash from opponents of Mr. Trump and his policies. " (In fairness, another source claims his offer to perform was declined. not withdrawn.)

Just as we let our love of music bind us here on the forum. and not focus on our differing views, it's too bad the performers are not free to make a decision without being bullied. Nobody HAS to attend, nobody HAS to listen, but if that's their desire, they should be free to do so without threats or paybacks.

This is true, but these days, it's the world we live in...
