To me it sounds like Tom Brumley! Nice recitation of Jerry Reed's "The Claw" at some point by Don.

It's a lip synch of this (source is the Praguefrank website):

I definitely hear some signature Buddy licks in this. Especially when he played some low c6. I don't recall Jay Dee doing this, but I will certainly ask him if need be.

There are some sources. Like Bear Family Records. When they release records from the past they buy the tapes along with the studio files as to who played on what, the date, the studio and print on the inlets of their CD's. I have a Merle Haggard record where it's that way.

When they cut to a quick Jerry Reid lick with an acoustic but Don Rich was still playing his Les Paul lol. Gotta love video editing from the 60s

They're lip synching here but not to the album. Buck would pre-record for his TV shows in those days. Here's the album version and it sounds like Don on a Tele and no acoustic lick like in the Hee Haw clip. I would say it's still up in the air who is playing on the TV clip. Sounds like Emmons to me, though.

Hi Dave,
The youtube clip you posted is not the original version of "Guitar Pickin" Man". The original version is from the Buckaroos' 1970 Capitol album "Boot Hill" which Peter mentioned. This is the version that is on the Hee Haw clip that Emmons is playing on. As you stated, they are lip synching.
The clip that you posted is an arrangement that I have not previously heard before. It looks like that it came from a compilation of previous Buckaroos albums. On some of the other cuts you can hear Tom, Jay Dee and Emmons.

Right you are. I found the version from Boothill and it is the same as the first post here. Weird they would do two versions so close together

Yea, you got me to ponder that for a while. The only thing that I could come up with is that the version that you posted was probably a cut from an album done sometime between "Boot Hill" and the time that Terry joined on steel and lead. The arrangement is slightly different from the original(tele lead vs acoustic).
I don't know how many Buckaroos albums were done after "Boot Hill" or if there were ever any more done. After the Boot Hill album, I moved on ( I was in my EARLY years of learning! )
