I don't want to sidetrack the 409 P/P thread, so I'll ask in a separate topic.

I have an MCI RangeXpander D10 that currently has Geo L's 10-1 according to the DC resistance measurements.

I'm not sure if they're SS or not.

I'm thinking of replacing them. My ideal choice would be the old chrome BL705's, but they are pricey and hard to find.

I'm hearing good things about the Telonics models, but have no experience with them.

Would the 409 be a good choice for this guitar?
Which Telonics model has anyone tried that would be closest to the characteristics of the 705's?

Pole pieces or bars? I see a single coil model too. Anyone tried those?

Hi Jerry
I am in the process of rebuilding my Rangexpander, and just have the rodding to go - I have installed a Telonics 409 in the E9th neck and have a 206 (two bars) on the C6th neck.... obviously I haven't strung the guitar up yet as I haven't finished the rebuild but I am expecting it to sound outstanding - just on my experience with these pickups in my Zum Hybrids.

the 206 I have had for a while and had it in an earlier Zum on the C6th neck and it sounded very very good.
Both of my Hybrids have 409's on both necks and just love them. I will give you an update once I finish the project Very Happy

That would be great Paddy. Very interested in your assessment. So you think a different model may be considered for the C neck?

Jerry, I've been thinking along the same lines. I am tempted to try 705 ri and geo l TW.

Paddy, I'm interested in sound clips of the range expander once you get it setup.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Was the 10-1 supposed to copy sho bud originals?

And do you guys happen to know the impedance of the telonics?

Jerry - I just happened to have that 206 pickup and remembered how good it sounded on the C6th of my earlier Zum ...so I want to try it and see if it goes well in the MCI ... time will tell but I'm picking it will be good.

This guitar originally had Barcus Berry's in it from the factory, then I put a GL 10-1 in E9th and a E66 on C6th and it went pretty well
