Hey All,
My instrumental quartet, Standard Deviations, has just completed a new CD, entitled "Hands Down." Just in time for Christmas!
To hear samples, go to http://StandardDeviationsJazz.com and follow the "Sights and Sounds" link.
To purchase, you can either e-mail me directly (danielcjones1954@gmail.com) or purchase from the SDJ website. Cost either place = $18.50 ($15 for CD + $3.50 for postage).
Hope you like it! If you do, please help spread the word.
Daniel

Fred! Glad you are recording your music. Please contact me here offline as I've lost your number -- again -- and I'd love to catch up with you. :- )

Folks, if you enjoy jazz, this is the real deal. An outstanding album of both standards and some great original compositions, all expertly played by Daniel and his terrific band. Showcasing a great diversity of styles, this completes an excellent series of 3 jazz-oriented releases for 2016 featuring steel guitar, including those of Lionel Wendling, Mike Neer, and Daniel Jones. All three are very highly recommended! _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Daniel and I started playing steel around the same time roughly in the early '70s. He played with Norton Buffalo and they made two excellent albums. He later moved to the Denver area and became a college professor. We lost touch but I heard reports that he was still playing and was focusing on jazz. This album showcases his excellent jazzy playing. My favorites are tunes that I've heard before, but probably the others will grow on me. His band mates are also extremely talented and compliment him well.

The kid he had playing bass at the Denver show last summer was most impressive, as was Daniel and the rest of his group. |

That would be Austin Hein. He is indeed the "kid" in the group (relative to us oldsters). Austin has a wonderful touch and melodic sensibility. Fun person as well. It's my pleasure to play with him. |

I've been enjoying my copy in the car the last couple of weeks and I have to agree there are some real standouts on this cd.
Big fan of these guys and Dan has the best tone. Smooth but solid like a hot knife thru butter.
Need to get this onto my hifi but the drums and steel really stand out on my junky car stereo.

Absolutely stellar playing by everyone in this band on everything I've heard - Daniel's playing was some of the first jazz steel I heard when I first picked up steel, and was very inspirational to me. Steel guitar is a terrific jazz axe, and Standard Deviations is a perfect vehicle for it.
I'll be getting this one, for sure _________________ Christopher Woitach

This CD gets better every time I listen to it after receiving it several weeks ago - it's been getting heavy rotation on my work commute along with Mike Neer's "Steelonious" - we've got some talented members here on the forum! |

If you like C6 (with a little E9) this is a "must have " cd.
Daniel is a highly skilled musician and deserves far more credit that he gets on here.
His unique styling is jazz but with a very melodic feel.
One of my top 5 C.D's |

Thanks to all for the kind words.
Shortly after Tony from the UK, got an order from Bernard in France. I smell an international tour taking shape.
Keep those orders coming!
