The seller must have used an online translator?

Does anyone recognize that instrument? I've never seen anything quite like it.

As for the text, that has to be a Google translation!

Havana lap steel, made in Japan, 1950s? Probably made at the same factory that made Teisco/Guyatone steels. It has a similar look.

I bought a Havana lap steel on eBay a few years ago because I just thought it looked cool. I took it apart and was amazed to find that it had hand made electronic components and it looked like the pickup cavity was cut out with a chisel. I thought it was made in Cuba but I didn't find any marks on it telling where it was made. Eventually, I want to make a new body for it and make it playable again. Mine has the same design but a different color scheme. I got mine for under $200 and it was sort of playable when I got it.

So it's definitely NOT worth 2 grand!

It appears that a realistic price was lost in translation, as well.

Japanese lap steels of the 1950's are very stylish. Awesome looking instruments, but cheaply made. Not sure where they dreamed up the name "Havana", but the guitar had nothing to do with Cuba. As far as the price... maybe the translating software added an extra 0!

Almost like lyrics to a Tom Waites song ...

I am used after antirust treatment to a screw

LOL! Me too, actually, but in my case the "antirust treatment" is belting down 3 or 4 stiff ones... Winking

recent on line article about Havana lap steels

http://www.electric-deer-guitarworks.com/guitars/c-1946-havana-lap-steel-guitar/

confirms I believe Doug's suggestion that these are early Japanese creations

That Havana just screams 1950's Japan. So does this Teisco.
