I've got a Black Box that I'm playing into a large heavy SS amp. I love it--sounds GREAT.
I have several smaller tube amps, an old Princeton, a 40watt Pignose, and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Is the Sarno Black Box just somewhat redundant with those amps, or would it add benefits? Are their any negatives? I played with it some with the smaller tube amps, and can't really tell as of yet, and electronics is a challenge to me--want to make sure there's no down side.
Thanks,

If you are using effects devices, running the Black Box before the devices is a good idea. But if you are just going straight into a tube amp you probably don't need the BB. It shouldn't hurt anything to try using it. Do what sounds best to you.

PS: I have no expertise in electronics.

What kind of volume pedal, and what kind of devices do you use between the guitar and the amp?

Brad, I was hoping you'd jump on here. My rig for the group I'm playing with now:
Guitar(s)>Black Box>EB VP jr.>Mad Professor Golden Cello>NuenAbar Wet Reverb>Boss Digital Delay>amp.

(And I should add that I switch back and forth between a sweet clean A6 tuned lap, and a lap that is my "blues lap" which is what the Golden Cello is for (or whatever overdrive pedal I'm messing with)).
Thanks,

I would definitely use the Black Box in that setup. It's not just about having tubes involved in the rig, but there's a LOT to having a tube as the very first thing the pickup sees, before those pedals. Definitely should use the BB there!
