Harmony octave jump technique

I’ve been using this little trick for a few years now and wondered it any of you have also stumbled on this. Here’s an example:
Tab:

1 _______________________________________
2 _______________________________________
3 _______________________________________
4 _____12 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ _________
5 _____12 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~24 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ________
6__________________^touch with thumb pick
7________________________________________
8________________________________________
9________________________________________
10_______________________________________

Or
Tab:

1 _______________________________________
2 _______________________________________
3 _______________________________________
4 _____12 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ _________
5 _______________________________________
6 _____12 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~24 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ________
6__________________^touch with thumb pick
7________________________________________
8________________________________________
9________________________________________
10_______________________________________

The 12th fret notes are picked and the touch occurs shortly afterward using the front edge of the pick. In this case you are causing the harmony B or G# note to jump an octave while the E note remains the same. It’s a bit of a knack and takes a light touch. Using a narrow blade thumb pick also helps… like a Herco. Of course this can be done anywhere on the neck as long as the touch is 12 frets above the picked note.

I prefer a fingertip for the turning one note of several into a harmonic.
When I read the subject line, I thought you were asking about striking harmonics first 12, then 5, frets above the bar.
