This is very sad and shocking news. I have been away from the Forum for a short while and am now seeing this. I am deeply saddened. We all know that Chris Ivey was all heart beneath his sometimes terse demeanor. As so many have said, Chris really made the Forum fun. So what the heck happened? Seems he was just posting a couple weeks ago. RIP Chris , my fellow POCO fan. I will truly miss seeing your posts.

He struck me as a Man who said exactly what he was thinking, and was a straight shooter. I will miss his subtle humor and comments.

This has been a tough one, Chris is the guy who helped me so many times in my quest to learn this instrument...
Like dumping a coupe dozen steel guitar albums on me to listen to so I would understood who the players were and the history of the steel guitar. So many times he helped me.

Beyond just a friend, he was my "Brother from another Mother"

I wish more people could have met him in person, all the things I have read here paint a pretty vivid and accurate picture of Chris, he was such a great guy, always honest in his words, you never had to guess what his opinion was, he was bound to tell you!

I can't recall how many times we've hung out over the years, playing steel guitar, going out to eat, going to see his shows, hanging out with him and his awesome other half Terry...I have more pictures I'll post later.

This is one person who probably had the most personal influence on my playing out of anybody. I for one, will think of Chris often, he made quite the impact on me over the years, both as one of my best friends and as a teacher of steel guitar.

I had traded emails with Chris the Thursday before the 4th, he was in his usual good mood, joking like he always did.

I wish we would have got together that weekend.

I was playing a gig at a casino and a band from Sacramento was playing there also. I asked them if they knew Chris and they said "Yes, great guy, great musician", so I called him up and we chatted on the phone. He was as friendly as a man could be. RIP Chris

it would be a nice nod to chris, if the original poster would consider editing the title and use lower case, instead of upper case letters. as many of you know, chris never bothered to capitalize.

ie: chris ivey instead of Chris Ivey
