Have tried to find the sheet music for Farewell Party, but have been able to find it on the internet. If anyone has the sheet music, and could send me a scan of it, I would appreciate it, or point me to a book that might have the song in the book.

I don't want the tab, as I want to try and play the song on a standard guitar.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Dennis

I bought Erv's tab version. I've searched high and low for the sheet music. I don't believe it exists.

I found this, although admittedly, my ability to read notation is way poor by now...but is this it?

Thanks so much Erv...I've deleted the link, as it is no help. I have the utmost admiration for those who can read the notation, but I lost that discipline many years ago. Sure hope you are able to find this song fellas, it's a great tune!

That sure doesn't look like "Farewell Party" to me.

Do you mean the chords for strumming along?

G/// G/// C/// G///
G/// G/// D/// D///
G/// G/// C/// G///
G/// D/// G/// G///
That's how it goes chordwise.

I wanted it for piano some time ago but haven't been able to find the sheet music either. It is a Lawton Williams song sung first by him, then Little Jimmy Dickens and countless others including Alan Jackson. Maybe a search on some of these will help. It's probably in a fake book somewhere, but who knows where to look.

The Gene Watson version is sung in E and modulates to F after the steel break. Don't know about Little Jim.

Here is Lawton's original version from 1960--if that helps at all. Unfortunately, no steel ride.

Thanks for of you that have undertaken to help me locate this song.

I was at a local music store in Minneapolis, probably the biggest one in town, and looked through their entire music section, including fake books, and it could not be found.

I had one of the clerks there look for me, and he couldn't find it either. His conclusion was that it was never published in any song book, or single sheet music. He did suggest looking on ebay, but that might be a lost cause as well, but I will give it a shot.

Thanks again for your help.

I do have the words and chords for the song, so I don't need any help in that regard, but it would be good to locate the actual sheet music. If I find it I will post my findings.

I'm sure there is someone in your area that could write out the notation for you. Check with an area music school.
