I got one of those old "Box" stereos for Christmas when I was 13. You know the one where the speakers folded out from the sides and the turntable dropped down. Along with it was an Al Caiola record.

I wore that LP out. I still have it.

I had one of those stereos myself Ollin.

Rest in peace Mr. Caiola. Truth is I hadn't thought about him in years, didn't know he was still around. He lived to be 96 so he didn't get gypped.

I miss the days when instrumentals were a big deal and all over the radio, Al Caiola was one of the leading dudes.

I remember listening to this album, one of my older brothers owned it:

I'll always think of him as the guy who played the theme songs for almost every western you watched on the television in the 50s and 60s.
