Passing through Angola Ind. I saw a sign pointing to the old Buck Lake Ranch.I followed the road to the old campground and stage. The "golden years" of country are still in the air! Standing on the stage knowing The Big E and many more cut their steel teeth here was overwhelming! Kinda like a shrine to country and many more styles of music! It is for sale and pretty much all done. Hope the future owners keep that old stage for posterity. Joe. |

Yes, it's still there, an icon of a bygone era I'm afraid. The ghosts of country stars still play here I'm sure, along with their famous sidemen...

I remember my folks taking us kids there a lot.
My favorite was seeing Les Paul and Mary Ford there. Les talked to my 2 brothers and I about the music business for over an hour. Great down to earth guy! _________________ Richard Smelker
