I just learned that my friend Jim McCoy of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. passed away on Sept. 7th 2016.
Jim was a real pioneer in country radio, and country music in the early days. He had a group called the "Melody Playboys", and also traveled with Patsy Cline in her early years, before she went to Nashville. Jim worked at WINC radio in Winchester Va., and was the first DJ to ever put Patsy on the radio.
He was responsible for the annual Labor Day Patsy Cline Fan Club party on Labor Day Sundays at his nightclub and restaurant "The Troubadour" in Berkeley Springs. Jim played guitar, sang, and worked with many of the great pedal steel players, including Buddy Charleton, Don West, Bobby Edenton just to mention a few.
He was a wonderful person, and alway willing to help anyone who needed it.
RIP my friend.

Pat, so sorry to hear of the loss of your good friend, Jim. He sounds like a great guy - one who brought people together to make memories and rejoice in friendships and music. May he rest in peace...
