Headed home to Nashville

After being away from Nashville since 2003 I am headed back home. I spent 12 years in Texas playing with many of my heroes and great singers and musicians. I also had the opportunity to work with Maurice Anderson, Kyle Bennett and all of the wonderful group at MSA. For the past year I've been here in Branson working with Mel Tillis, The Baldknobbers and a couple other shows. It's been fun for sure. Bottom line is that I miss home and my family. My grown children live in the Nashville area and I have grandchildren that I want to watch grow up. I'm not going back to rekindle my playing career. I'm going to get myself a day job, come home to the wife at night and spend my weekends with my family. Sure I'll pick if someone wants me too but I'm going to be paw paw and dad, something that I didn't do so well when my kids were growing up. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and maybe hanging out at the Opry occasionally. It's been a great ride.

Congrat's on your decision, you won't regret it. I am so blessed to have the best of both world's - my grand babies are close by to Papa and the Lord is blessing me with lots of playing opportunities. Family near you is the biggest thrill yet.

being paw paw is way more important to me then music at this place in my life
I do pick if im asked but I don't seek work these days ill soon be 65 and ive had some rough years the last 3 that is myself

I had gone to bed on a Saturday night and the Ernest Tubb record show radio show came on and you were introduced.
