I just watched a Jackson Steel Guitars video where Buck raises the 1st and 2nd strings by pushing one or the other of two buttons on his banjo head. How do those buttons raise the strings? |

Scruggs tuners? Tuning peg is turned to preset adjustable stops, built into the peg., usually dropping an open G chord to a D. |

Buck's banjo has Scruggs pegs on it,but it also has a changer on it like a pedal steel...the two"buttons"are"pedals that raise the strings...I've played that banjo before...the"head"is a piece of plywood and the pickup is mounted to it...Buck plays that banjo thru a Sho-Bud"Christmas Tree"amp...love me some Buck Trent! |

He appears use the heel of his hand to push the buttons. Sort of like palm levers.

Porter was smart enough to recognize and hire a hit sound and a signature sound. Buck's banjo has the Scruggs tuners and the two palm pedals that Shot Jackson installed. It also has a METAL bridge. The design of the banjo is as inventive as Buck's playing. |

I'm somewhat familiar with several lap steel palm levers, and usually the lever is pulling in a straight line from the tail-piece area. Buck's banjo actuating buttons are not in line with the string motion, and that was why I was asking how it worked. |
