Van Gelder's recordings were, and in many ways, still are the Gold Standard for recording jazz music. The list of greats who made the pilgrimage to Hackensack NJ to record with Rudy is a who's who of the great jazz musicians of all time.

Sorry to hear this. He was the master of recording a B3.
Even had his own "secret" way of mic-ing a Leslie.
RIP, Rudy.
Going to go listen to some Brother Jack McDuff now...

Godspeed Rudy. May as well add Jimmy Smith, Don Patterson, Gtoove Holmes to the roster of artists Rudy recorded on the B3. Ray Charles recorded with Rudy. Van Gelder's secrets to recording a jazz B3 looks to have gone with him.
