I met Gary last September in Steel Guitar Nashville and followed up a while later by discussing a new guitar. He wasn't able to give me a firm date at the time and I'm away working so it got sidelined.

Several weeks ago, though, I tried to contact him and got no response. I now read (on another post) that he is having some health issues! Does anyone know how he is?

I send Gary my best wishes. I do hope to buy a new Rittenberry one day.

Roger
I spoke to Gary a few days ago and he is going to the doctor today. He asked me to call him after the doctors visit too find out if he will be able to work any more. The problem is he can't lift anything more than 20-30 lbs so that is why he is no longer building D 10's. I would rather not say exactly what is wrong with Gary without his permission. I will let you know what he tells me after we talk again. I'm also in line for a build but we will have to wait and see.
Thanks
Dale

Thank you, Dale.

I, too, want an SD-10 (a Prestige). If you do speak to him please pass on my best wishes for a full recovery.

My new guitar can wait - I just hope his health issues get cleared up. I appreciate your response.

Hi all,
I just received a brand new Rittenberry Prestige SD-10 on Friday and all I can say is it is AMAZING! (And I already own a 2010 model D-10 & two Emmons p/p for reference!). This is my 3rd Ritt & the Prestige really takes the cake. I will post pictures and maybe some sound samples this weekend.

Now about Gary, he has had some health challenges & that created a few delays in getting my guitar (and everyone else's too)but he is overcoming those issues and is still building SD-10's. He will not be able to build D-10's until he gets a shop assistant to lift things for him. He has a small aortic aneurysm and has been advised not to life more than 35 pounds.Needless to say - swinging D-10's around is not in the cards.

BUT!!! He is looking to get a helper to do the grunt work so he can continue to build the best sounding steel guitars being built today! It is in my plan to have him build me another D-10 as soon as his health & worker status get up to speed.

Gary, thanks for another amazing guitar. I am praying you get completely better soon.

I may have gotten one of the last d10's. Gary built a fine guitar and answered every single one of my novice questions along the way. Get well Gary!!!

Hi all,
I know folks are concerned as to whether Gary will continue building and the answer is a resounding YES!
And.... once he finds someone who can do the heavy lifting I am thinking he may build D-10's again.
I sure hope so because I LOVE my Prestige so much I want a D-10 version of it!!!!!!

I would encourage anyone who is wanting a Rittenberry to definitely do so. You won't regret getting one of his mazing machines.

I do wish he would answer my recent emails. I'm serious about getting in line for an SD-10.

You are going to have to call him. He doesn't often respond to emails. Just saying!

Hi Roger,
His number - 931- 537- 2289. Sometimes he doesn't answer because he is in the shop. But he is good at calling you back that day.

I am SO IN LOVE with my new Prestige that I am trying to think of a way to get him to return to making D-10's - if only for one guitar!

The new guitar seriously has all the vibe of my old push pulls with all the new features. Honestly - it is the best guitar I have ever played/owned.

Jim:

Thanks for the heads-up.

I put in a call to Gary yesterday and I'm now officially on the waiting-list. It'll be a few months as he's backed up a bit but I'm having a black SD-10 Prestige.

Gary seems to be taking proper care of himself and following doctors' orders. It was an enjoyable conversation and we touched on many aspects of music and the world of steel guitar.

Roger,
Yes, Gary is working past his health issues. But he builds the best guitar out there at the present time.
And he is a Prince!!
