Due to weather concerns this performance has been POSTPONED one night and will occur on WEDNESDAY, Aug 17th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks to an introduction from Forumite Craig Stock, I'm happy to be invited to play an evening of Steel Guitar Jazz as part of the "Sweet Sounds Downtown Jazz Festival" in Westfield, NJ. I'll be playing on Wed, August 17th, together with some of Philly's finest jazz musicians, including Dave Posmontier (keys), Steve Beskrone (bass), Jay Webb (trumpet) and Grant MacAvoy (drums). If you're in the area, come on by!
Jim,
Funny that you just posted this, I just looked to see if the schedule was posted yet and was glad to see that you saw it as well.
I'm really looking forward to the show and introduce your great playing to the local people.
Hopefully any local steel players or fans will show up, its a nice event, especially since you will be featured! _________________ Regards, Craig
This Tuesday is the night!
Jim will be on Central Ave. In front of the Turning Point Restaurant in downtown Westfield, NJ from 7 - 9pm at the Westfield Summer Jazz Festival.
It's a short drive from NYC and just a few miles off the Garden State Parkway at exit 135, so come out and enjoy a great night of Steel Guitar Jazz! _________________ Regards, Craig
What a great night that was! Many thanks to Craig for organizing my participation in the festival. The band and I loved playing there and it's always such a special treat for me to get to play with these world-class musicians: Dave Posmontier (keys), Steve Beskrone (bass), Grant MacAvoy (drums) and Jay Webb (trumpet). They made my job easy; I just kicked off the tunes, played my solos, and then sat back and listened to the rest of the band knock it out of the park every time.
It was also great to see a few steelers in the crowd including Gordon Wells, John, Joey and a few more (I apologize for not remembering all their names properly; perhaps Craig can help here.)
My thanks again to Craig, and to guitarist, Glenn Alexander (of the Asbury Jukes), who graciously provided and ran the sound system and to the Westfield festival and great audience. _________________ www.JimCohen.com
I wish I had been there. Unfortunately my Jimbeau curse struck again. I'm sorry I missed out. |
